People working with children:

  • A person in a position whose normal duties involve regular contact with people aged under 18 years of age. (Where those duties include caring for, training, supervising, or being in sole charge of children, an enhanced disclosure is required).

  • A person living at premises where child minding or daycare services are provided.

  • Those applying for adoption.

  • Those applying for Foster Caring duties.

People working with vulnerable adults:

  • An employment or other work which is concerned with the provision of care services to vulnerable adults. (An enhanced disclosure is required for a person who regularly cares for, trains, supervises, or is in sole charge of vulnerable adults)

  • A vulnerable adult is a person over 18 who has a learning or physical disability, a physical or mental illness (including drug or alcohol addiction), or a reduction in physical or mental capacity.
